CSLL A-AA Drills:

    I  

Throwing Drill

  • One - Athletic Position
    • Knees flexed
    • Weight over the balls of your feet
    • Feet shoulder width apart
  • Two - Glove and Hand come together
    • Glove comfortably at chest level
  • Three – Hands break together
    • Push thumbs down and arms up to the scarecrow position
    • Back arm goes down, back, and around
      • Peace to the centerfielder
      • Fingers stay on top of ball throughout
    • Front arm points elbow to the target
      • Glove takes a picture from behind
      • What time is it
  • Four - Step
    • Front leg goes forward - landing plane
    • Front arm pulls downward
    • Knee inside the foot with the front foot slightly closed
    • When foot lands the back elbow is even with or slightly above the shoulders (scarecrow position)
  • Five - Throw
    • Ball released in front of body

Hitting Drill

  • One - Athletic Position
    • Knees flexed
    • Weight over the balls of your feet
    • Feet shoulder width apart
  • Two - Knocking Knuckles
    • Line up knuckles that would knock on doors
    • Point index fingers to the sky - they should align
  • Trigger and Load
    • Hands and weight shift slightly backward
      • Weight stacked
    • Stride to thin ice
  • Swing down and hard

Fielding Drills

  • One - Athletic Position
    • Knees flexed
    • Weight over the balls of your feet
    • Feet shoulder width apart
  • Two - Prep Step
    • Glove extended
    • Step with right foot, then left
  • Three - Ready Position – athletic position
    • Reached at completion of prep step
    • Begging for the ball – thumbs down
  • Four - Right – Left Field
    • First step with foot opposite the glove hand
    • Glove hand extended with first step
    • Second step with glove landing the plane
    • Form triangle
    • Glove always taking a picture of the ball as it comes forward
    • DO NOT FLIP
